Thomas J. Levesque, 71, of Sanford, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Newton Center in Sanford.Thomas was born in Fort Fairfield on June 20, 1937 to Dennis and Philomen Beaulieau Levesque and attended local schools. Following high school, Thomas joined the U.S. Army where he served for four years. He worked for 32 years at CYRO Industries as an assistant safety coordinator and fire chief until his retirement in 1997. He had been a member of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford/Springvale. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing and playing sports. He was an avid Celtics fan and enjoyed being around children, especially his grandchildren. Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered as a simple family man who always tried to do the right thing. He will be dearly missed.Thomas was predeceased by a son, Brooks Levesque and by nine siblings, Romeo, Leroy, Gilbert, Dennis, Richard, Elizabeth, Gladys, Pauline and Julliette.Surviving are his wife, Carol Levesque of Sanford; eight children, Thomas J. Levesque, Jr. of Portland, Lori-Ann Thurston of Kennebunk, Darlene Duplessis and her husband Joe of Sanford, Samantha Levesque of Sanford, Dennis Levesque of Hampton, NH, Barry Davis of Sanford, Michael Levesque and his wife Aquile of Sanford and April Zielke and her husband Carlton of Sanford; 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16th at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, December 16th at St. Therse of Lisiuex Parish, Notre Dame Church, located on Payne Street in Springvale.
