I knew tom from the dog park. We spent time on the dog park committee, and i was amazed at all the hard work he put into the park, shoveling snow, and mulch, as well as picking up dog poop that people left from their dogs. he loved to complain about that, but he was happy to do it. whatever he did in his previous life, he sure made up for it in the last several years while many of the other patrons sat around watching him work his butt off.
he came to visit me about two weeks ago, and i was more than happy to see him. i haven’t been able to walk or drive for over a year, and it was nice to see him, and the timing was perfect i guess. i haven’t been to the park in about two years due to mobility issues, and he was always good at checking in on me. when i could drive, i used to share my stuff from the food pantry that i did not eat with him, and he was excited to get it. he could make a big hannaford chocolate cake last a whole week. i kept telling him to eat more.
i will miss my visits from tom. he used to walk my dogs when i couldn’t do it anymore. when i say walk, i mean longer than i used to walk them, and then he probably took callie to the park afterwards too. she was always gone for a long time. i know he felt bad when i lost her too. i know he is now reunited with sadie and crazy buddy and whoever else he had in his life for dogs. rip tom.

I so enjoyed his happy nature and wonderful laugh
Tom was a good man. He gave a lot to the local dog park and we certainly appreciated him. I always enjoyed his company. He will be missed

I grew up in Sanford with Tom. He was a funny, somewhat wild (in a good way) kid.
We double-dated on one high school prom.
Fun fact: His mother, Helen, was my father, Wendell Thayer’s, sister.
She married Bud Garnsey, whose brother John was married to my mother’s sister.
I’m so sorry ♥️
He was my cousin
Tom was a kind, generous man. He started out walking our dog, Tessie, one hour a day, and wound up being a friend. He was always willing to lend an ear, give advice, or help in any way he felt would make a difference. The bond he formed with Tessie was so heartwarming. We are going to miss his sparkling eyes and kind ways immensely.
