SCARBOROUGH - Thomas Frederick, 56, of Spurwink Road passed Monday, December 7, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born in Portland, Maine on October 22, 1959, the son of the late Leon (Bud) and Anne Marie (Norton) Frederick of South Portland. Mourning his loss and carrying Toms memory forward are his wife, Audrey Johnson and his children of Scarborough, Sam and Edie, sister Patricia Frederick of South Portland, brothers Peter and Nancy of Parsonsfield, Paul and Marie of Lamoine, John and Kelly of South Portland, David and Pamela of Scituate, MA, Robert and Lori Tully of Falmouth, Charles and Patricia of South Portland, James and Laurie Spugnardi of South Portland. Also surviving are his mother in-law Beverly H. Johnson of Bedford, NH, brother in-law Andrew Johnson and Joy of Warner, NH, along with several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Tom graduated in 1978 from South Portland High School. He received his degree in engineering from the University of Maine Orono, and then was awarded a masters degree from both MIT in real estate development and in business management from Husson University. Tom held management positions as president of Granger Northern Co. Inc., and most recently as vice-president of Wright-Ryan Co. Inc. The Boys Girls Club of Greater Portland enjoyed Toms support, service, and tenure as a 15-plus year Board of Trustees member, along with a number of other philanthropic causes. Outside of work, Tom enjoyed golf, reading, skiing with his family and running, including the NYC Marathon. Tom took pleasure in nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it was on vacation or watching Sam and Edie at their sporting events. Many a morning you could witness Tom practicing his putting and chip shot on the lawn of his home before the bus would take his kids to school. Tom took delight in his large and caring family and fostered that same sense of love and support with everyone he knew. He was a true example of a devoted husband, supportive father, loyal friend, and a giving member of society. Above all, he lived with dignity, integrity, and grace throughout his life, and his spirit lives on within all who knew him. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 3-8PM at the Saltwater Grille, 231 Front St., South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 14, at 1PM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough. Burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
