Theresa A. Martin
Theresa A. Martin, 38, of Sanford, died on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Southern Maine Healthcare in Sanford.She was born on August 2, 1980, to Michael and Elaine (Therrien) Martin, in Sanford, where she grew up and attended local schools. After high school, she attended the Culinary Institute of America, in New York, and completed her externship in Vail, Colorado. She graduated in 2001 and from there went on to work in several local restaurants including Cheri's Bistro, Arrows, Bentley's and Oak Street Bistro, also working at East Coast Grille, in Cambridge, MA. She enjoyed her work and was extremely dedicated until her health prevented her to doing so. Aside from her passion for food, she was also a talented artist. She liked to paint and draw. Terry was a free spirit, had a great sense of humor and a fun and childlike personality. She enjoyed the beach, and spent as much time there as she could. She loved her family, especially her nieces and her nine year old daughter, Riley. Despite her difficulties, Terry always remained upbeat and encouraging to others. She will be dearly missed.She is predeceased by her grandmother Barbara Martin and her great memre Mary Cote.Survivors include her daughter, Riley Coyne, her parents, Michael and Elaine Martin, of Sanford, her sisters Jennifer Hotham and her husband Randy, of Steep Falls, and Kimberly Collins and her husband Adam, of Virginia Beach, VA, her grandparents, Joseph and Diana Therrien, her grandfather James Martin, her nieces, Elainah, Mikaylah, and Oliviah Hotham, and Sadie and Brielle Collins, her aunts, Susan Sevigny and her husband George, Cecile Therrien, Joanne Cyr and her husband Wayne, Kathy Waller, Julie Lucier and her husband Ray, her uncle, Michael Therrien, and many cousins.The family would like to thank the staff at York Hospital, and Dr. Argilla George and the staff at York Family Practice in York for the exceptional care and support of Terry.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 16, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford.
