Sylvio R. Pepin
Sylvio R. Pepin, 89, of Sanford, died on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford following a brief illness.Sylvio was born on January 7, 1925 to Rudolph and Lydia (Voyer) Pepin in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the invasion at Normandy Beach. In 1946 he married Gertrude Bland and together they raised seven children and shared 53 years of marriage until her death in 1999. He was a co-owner of R. Pepin & Sons and worked in the construction industry his entire working life.Sylvio was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish. He took great pride in the home that he built. He enjoyed working around his property and tending to his vegetable gardens. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and always put the needs of his family before his own. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Sylvio was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude Bland Pepin; a son, Richard in 1963; a son, Ronald in 1990 and a grandson, Ryan Pepin in 1981.Surviving are his son, Michael Pepin and his companion Dawn LaChance of Sanford; four daughters, Arline Sladen, Linda Pepin, Susan Pepin and Rachel Angis and her husband John, all of Sanford; a sister, Gertrude Berthiaume of Sanford and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved and adored.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
