Sylvia A. Royal, 78, of Biddeford and formerly of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Kennebunk Nursing & Rehab in Kennebunk. She was born in Sanford on February 1, 1944, a daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Tremblay) Cloutier. She attended St. Ignatius School and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1962. In her later years she also enjoyed living on the former school property at St. Ignatius Apartments. For many years she had been employed at the former Aletta Dress Shop in Springvale. She also worked at Jagger Brothers, where she met her husband Al, and then worked at Augat Inc where retired after 17 years of service. In her younger years, Sylvia loved dancing and would reminisce of all of the fun she had at countless dances. With Al, she loved watching and attending NASCAR racing. She also loved the New England Patriots and would never miss watching a game. Her biggest love was animals, donating to any organization who found her. She adored her pets, most recently her cats, Charlie, Bella and her bird Pedro, who she had for over 20 years. She was also a very devoted memere to her 3 grandchildren who she adored very much. She is predeceased by her husband, Elwyn “Al” Royal. She is also predeceased by her former husband and father of her children, Gerald Demers. She is survived by her daughters, Sheree Beaudette and her husband, Don of Saco and Shannon Patenaude and her husband, Ed of Saco. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Evan Beaudette, Blake Beaudette, Julia Beaudette as well as her sister, Monique Morin and brother, Paul Cloutier as well as several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6 to 8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
