South Portland, ME – Susanne "Sue" Conti, 58, passed away on October 7, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born on February 25, 1966, in Portland, ME, to Adrienne Beatrice (Trueman) Frank and the late Stanley Frederick Frank, Sr. She grew up in a bustling, close-knit family with six brothers on Angell Avenue in South Portland, where she quickly learned resilience and independence, skills she carried throughout her life. Sue graduated from South Portland High School in 1984 and later attended Andover College, earning an associate degree in 1986.
In 1992, Sue married the love of her life, Mark Paul Conti, at Holy Cross Church. Their wedding day, initially forecasted for rain, turned out to be a beautiful day, and their photos taken at Mill Creek are treasured memories of the joyous occasion. They celebrated their love with a large wedding, surrounded by 300 friends and family members.
Sue was a devoted mother and a true matriarch. Her love for children and family led her to open her home-based daycare, "Comforts of Home," where she cared for the children of family and friends, providing a nurturing environment. Sue’s love for the ocean extended to family trips to local beaches, where they would enjoy picnics and sunsets together.
She adored nature and camping, especially trips with her husband Mark to Acadia. They shared their love of Acadia, Sebago Lake and Saco River canoeing trips with close friends. Sue’s love of nature extended to gardening and birdwatching, always keeping bird feeders full for cardinals, which represented the love of her father, Stanley.
Sue’s home was always filled with love, laughter, and celebrations. She was a talented decorator, ensuring every holiday and birthday was special. Those celebrations extended to Shawn’s pool on Sunday’s and Scott’s house for football. Christmas was especially meaningful and her kids had the best celebrations. All yearly holidays were celebrated and her house was always fully decorated. Sue was also known for having a Bud Light, or two, during those times, and bringing her famous cheesy potatoes.
She grew up devout in her Catholic faith, attending Holy Cross Church, and raised her family in the same faith, honoring traditions that meant so much to her.
Sue’s legacy of kindness, love, and resilience will live on through her family. She is predeceased by her father, Stanley Frank, Sr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Paul Conti of South Portland; her loving mother, Adrienne Beatrice Frank of South Portland; her children: Nicholas Conti and his wife Brianna of South Portland, Olivia Conti and her husband Thomas of Cape Elizabeth, Benjamin Conti and his wife Samantha of Scarborough, and Josef Conti and his partner Heather Matthews of Scarborough. She is also survived by her cherished grandson, Noah; her six brothers, Stanley Jr. and partner Jane, Stephen and wife Deborah, Scott and wife Stacy, Shawn and wife Marcia, Stacy and wife Alice, and Seth and wife Jocelyn; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sue's family extends their gratitude to Gosnell Memorial Hospice and the caregivers who provided her with comfort and love in her final days. A special thank you to her sister in laws, Stacy who was especially vital with fundraisers and home care, Alice, and Marcia; as well as her best friends, Patty and Wendy; and her daughter’s friend, Ali.

Sue always made sure that her family was taken care of. Always talking about what she was making for dinner. Talked about her Christmas celebration. Picking her holly berries and showing me what she would do with them. Always brought some in for me at work.. We worked together for a couple of years and she always made me laugh. Loved her family more than words could ever describe. RIP my friend
In loving memory of Sue
