Susan L Simmons

Cape Elizabeth- Susan Kierstead Simmons , 71, passed away July 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 31, 1946, in Portland, the daughter of the late Paul and Edna Kierstead. She graduated from South Portland High School in 1965. She started her insurance career at Maine Bonding and Casualty, retiring from United Insurance Group in 2008. Susan's greatest love was her family. She enjoyed cooking for, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Hartley Simmons and three children, Michele (and John) Sowerby, Michael Curran, and Ryan (and Sarah) Curran, along with her six grandchildren, Brad and Brooke Sowerby, Julia and Daniel Curran, and Ian and Sam Curran. Susan is also survived by her loving sisters and brother, Sandra (and David) Skillings, Paula (and Christopher) Walsh, her twin sister Barbara (and Paul) Curran, Jane (and Paul) Robie, and Paul (and Grace) Kierstead, along with nine nieces and nephews. Visiting hours celebrating Susan's life will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A memorial service will follow at the chapel at 1:00pm. Burial will be private.
