SANFORD Stephen D. Morin, 64, a life long resident of Sanford, died early Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family at H.D. Goodall Hospital following a long battle with lung disease. Steve was born in Portland January 3, 1945 the son of Jean Paul and Alma (Thibodeau) Morin. He was educated here and was a graduate of Sanford High with the class of 1963 and in 1964 he graduated from Eastern Maine Techincal School. He would later enlist in the Navy and serve until 1971.Steve retired after 25 years from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard working as a machinist and nuclear inspector.He was a member of the FRAT club in Sanford. Steve loved drag racing, motorcycles and restoring his 1968 camaro. Steve was passionate about blues music, shooting pool, his Harley, and puttering around the garage with his tool collection. He could make or fix anything and was a talented machinist.Steve was predeceased by his mother and his sister Doreen.Survivors are his father of Kennebunk, his wife of 41 years Jacqueline (Petit) Morin of Sanford, his son Tim Morin and his wife Jessica of Huntersville, NC daughters, Tracy Valerio and Kristina Tascher and her husband Michael all of Sterling, VA and two sisters, Paula Morin of Sanford, Patricia Timms of Winston-Salem, NC., also granddaughter Amanda Valerio, grandsons, Nicholas Valerio, Jack and Michael Tascher, Wyatt and Ryan Morin. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10 :00 AM Thursday at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, Sanford.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Assn. of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330-5615To leave the family a message of condolence please use the condolences tab to the left.
