Stanley T. Libby

Stanley T. Libby, 89, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Greenwood Center Nursing Home. Born in Sanford on March 26, 1918, the youngest of nine children, he was the son of Edwin and Selena (Turner) Libby. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1938 and then served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.For over 30 years he was employed by Kostis Fruit as a salesman. After they closed he worked at the Ford Dealership until his retirement. He was a member and past commander of the Sanford American Legion Post #19. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Springvale Social Club. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing and traveling.Stanley is survived by one daughter, Karen E. Libby of Shapleigh as well as many nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.Contributions may be made in his memory to the Maine Children's Cancer Program 100 Campus Drive, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
