Sherry Ann Kemp

Portland- Sherry Kemp, 64, of Wall Street, died unexpectedly at her home on March 23, 2018. Sherry was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on September 2, 1953 the daughter of the late, Thelon W. and Lillian M. (Phillips) Kemp. She graduated from the Bacon Academy in Colchester, CT in the Class of 1972. Her whole life, Sherry worked as a self-employed artist in the visual arts including drawing, painting and even architecture. She was a gifted writer and had a book of her poetry published. In her spare time she was an amazing cook and baker who loved watching others enjoy her food and pastries. Sherry got the most enjoyment from being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, but when not around, she loved to escape into her magnificent works of art. Her family described her as a very selfless person who always put others needs ahead of her own. She truly was not happy unless everyone around her was happy. Sherry is survived by two sons, Michael Strong and Eric Ducas; a sister, Anita Kemp; two brothers, Gary and Thomas Kemp; three grandchildren with a fourth on the way. At the family's request all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME.
