Resided in:
Lyman, Maine
Sherry Haskell, 65 of Lyman, died on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Southern Maine Health Care Biddeford.
Sherry was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on April 29, 1957 to Lloyd and Lorraine (Norwood) Haskell. She was a graduate of Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.
During her younger years she lived and worked in San Francisco where she was a bartender. She enjoyed sharing stories of her time working at Candlestick Park. After becoming a mother Sherry knew it was time to return home to New England. Sherry drove cross country with her daughter and friend. She found home and rooted herself in Lyman, Maine.
She was a hard worker, often holding two jobs. She spent the past 22 years working for the Department of Health and Human Services. Most recently working in the Division of Support Enforcement and Recovery. She spent many years as Home Health Aid most recently working for Home Instead.
Sherry was the type of woman that could make a friend anywhere she was. She was always good for a laugh, a listening ear or a good story. She cared deeply for those around her whether you were family, a close friend or a complete stranger. Sherry loved to bake and cook and would often make care packages and deliver them to people if she found they needed comfort.
She enjoyed being near the ocean and visiting lighthouses. She was always up for a road trip where she could be heard playing her music at max volume without a care in the world. When she was not working she wanted to spend time with her family. She enjoyed the time she spent with her daughter and the relationship they built. She was very proud of the daughter she raised as a single parent. She enjoyed watching her granddogs, Lola and Star or to be home relaxing with her cat, Sadie. Most importantly she loved spending time with her granddaughter. Lyla was the apple of her eye and she never missed a milestone. Sherry will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
Sherry was predeceased by parents, her sister, Diane Chan and her brother, Lloyd Haskell, Jr.
Surviving are her daughter, Molly Cunningham and her husband Marc of Waterboro; her granddaughter, Lyla Cunningham of Waterboro; three sisters, Cynthia Haskell and her husband William Whittaker of Falmouth, Massachusetts, Gail Ellis and her husband James of Nantucket, Massachusetts and Lorraine Haskell of New Bedford, Massachusetts; her step-mother, Ada Haskell of Kensington, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all those who loved her to attend.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

You may be gone but you will always be my sister. Fly with the Angels❣️
I counted Sherry as one of the best CAREGivers I had the pleasure of employing at Home Instead. She was a great employee and a delightful person. She often told me how much she loved working for Home Instead, but most importantly, her clients and fellow CAREGivers loved her as well. Day in, day out, she made a difference in people’s lives. I will always remember her fondly and will miss her quick smile and laugh. – Howard Schultz
Sherry was a caring and selfless friend.
My sincere condolences to Molly, Lyla and family. I loved Sherry like a sister. She was an amazing coworker but most of all a trusted a loyal friend. We shared a lot of personal stories and I will miss seeing her smiling face at the office.
The Irish family is sending our sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Sherry for several years. Nearly every day, Sherry shared her “daily dose of cuteness.” This was either a video or picture or her daughter or granddaughter. She had an overwhelming sense of joy for her family and, by her sharing, made us all a small part of that. She will be missed.
I know Sherry from when I was employed at DHHS. She was loyal and a lot of fun. She was a person you could count on. I haven’t seen her recently because I retired almost years ago. Sherry adored her daughter Molly. In fact Molly used to babysit my grandson years ago. I am so sorry to hear that she has passed. She was such a good person. WE will all miss her.
So Sorry to Hear about Ur Loss. Sherry was a Good Friend, i will always remember her Laughs& her Smile. 🙏🙏❤️❤️
My condolences to the family! I met Sherry when she worked at BMV in Kennebunk! Always full of life, smiles and a huge heart!!!
Dear Molly,
Bill & I were shocked and saddened to receive Karen Connelly’s email with news of Sherry’s sudden passing. Sherry was such a devoted caregiver, always ready to go above and beyond for us. We are so thankful for her time with us.
Sherry’s care schedule was Friday and Saturday nights 8pm – 8 am and our breakfast menu is BB pancakes. (We still have a couple of pkg. of blueberries in our freezer that she picked for us at Libby’s in Limington.)
It was obvious from the moment that we me Sherry that Molly and Lyla were the most important beloved people in her life. Sherry was proud to share photos and stories of special occasions they shared. We feel honored when Sherry arranged an in-person visit from her and Lyla.
Bill and I worried and prayed about Sherry’s need to relocate and we were thrilled with the picture of her new home overlooking a backyard pond.
We are not able to join Sherry’s family and friends for her Celebration of Life in May. We know it will be a special day
We send our love and prayers for comfort and peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Sherry in Portland DHHS. What an energetic and lively office mate, she was. Always quick with a photo of her beloved granddaughter or a funny tale about her exploits. She will be sorely missed.
Sherry and I worked together for many years. She was smart, funny and quick to smile. Sherry was proud of her family and always had great pictures and stories to tell. Sherry had a great laugh and a great outlook. She will be missed!
My deepest condolences to Sherry’s family. We were coworkers. She was the reason I enjoyed coming to work. Always positive, friendly and sharing pics of her beloved granddaughter. Her laugh was contagious. I will miss her dearly.
I have worked with Sherry for the past 22 years. She was a dear friend and I will so miss seeing her happy smiling face coming down the hall at work. When Molly was growing up Sherry loved telling us all stories about Molly who she would always refer to as, “my girl,” and then in recent years every time I would see her, she could not resist telling me all about her pride and joy, Lyla. Her family was her everything! I am so very sorry for your loss! Sherry will be greatly missed!
Love, Tara Picard
Molly i am so sorry for your loss, she always spoke so highly of you and how much she loved spending time with her granddaughter and family. She will be greatly missed.
Molly I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Without fail Sherry would make all of us smile and laugh down at Biddeford DHHS which was especially appreciated on hard days. Sherry “Rascal” was full of great stories about SF but was clear she needed to move back East once she had Molly. Later on she beamed about Molly’s wedding and her pride in her grand daughter showed everyday. Sherry was a special person and we were all lucky to know her. Zack K
