Scott E. Cote, 44,a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday May 31, 2015 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in Sanford on March 27, 1971 a son of Roland and Carol (Ring) Cote. Scott was a 1990 graduate of Sanford High School. At age 14 Scott started a rock band called HORDE. His father built a separate room in the basement for the band to practice. Scott's band and friends thought he had awesome parents to do that for them. We sound proofed it his mother said, but still needed to keep an ample supply of ear plugs on hand. Scott's mother Carol was instrumental in his music having spent hours upon hours bringing him up to all of his music lessons and gigs. All his friends loved her for it. After graduation from Sanford High shool he formed his second band called Cage which he was still part of before becoming ill. They played at many local establishments. He had an incredible voice and loved singing so much. Scott could imitate anyone, it didn't matter who it was. Whether it be his friends, co-workers, movie stars, it didn't matter. If we were bored, we would call on Scott to make us laugh his father said. So he would take out his 5 foot cardboard poster of Kareem Abdul Jabar with a cut out mouth and insert his mouth into it and begin talking, telling jokes or sounding like Mike Tyson, or anyone. We would laugh for hours. One of Scott's proudest moments in his life is when he won custody of his daughter Kobeigh after going through a divorce. Not a common thing to happen as a single dad. Scott's talents were many. From musician to a machinist, welder, comedian and many other talents. He would always beat us at Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire said his parents. He was the nicest, sweetest, kindest son anyone could ask for. Our hearts are broken beyond repair and he will be sorely missed by so many friends and relatives. We love you so much Scott. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by all.He is survived by his beautiful daughters, Kobeigh Cote and Grace Cote of Sanford, parents, Roland and Carol Cote of Sanford, brother, Steve Cote and his wife, Anne of Sanford, grandmother, Joan P. Ring of Florida.Visiting hours for Scott will be on Sunday from 4 to 6PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
