Scott Albion Briggs

Windham - Scott Albion Briggs, 91, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Born on October 27, 1926 in Madison, Maine and honorably served two tours in the United States Navy during World War II. During much of his time in the Navy, he was the ships barber and later opened his own barber shop. He married Delola Goltz in Minnesota and they had 1 child, Jeffrey Scott Briggs. Scott and Delola divorced and he later married Virginia Moody in South Portland. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage. In his later years, he proudly worked for Verrill Dana Law Firm in Portland until he retired in 1995. His gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Maine Medical Center and the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough for the loving care Scott received. Scott is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Jeffrey and his wife Laura; sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Libby; brother, Richard Greenstreet; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 1PM at the First Baptist Church, 879 Sawyer Street, South Portland. Pastor Dr. Peter Hasbrouck officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow it Madison, Maine at 5PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
