Scott A. Berube

November 6, 2017
Scott Allen Berube (Bif), 64 of Acton, Maine, died November 6th, in the home that he built and where he raised his eight children. He was born on June 12, 1953 in Gardiner, Maine. As a young man he fought for his country in the Vietnam War as a Marine. Upon his return home, he chose for himself various professions, including lumberjack, fisherman, builder, iron worker, antique Harley mechanic, farmer, and father. His passions included the rush of the wind though his hair on a Harley, the thrill of the catch on a deep sea fishing vessel, and putting his nose to the grindstone and getting the job done right. He settled with his family on the top of a hill in Acton, and later built a post and beam home with the help of his many friends and family. You might see Bif riding his blue '49 Panhead at a biker bar; wrenching on one of his antique Harleys or his Ford tractor, in a barn full of power tools and tool boxes full of sockets, running his "Wood-Mizer" saw mill or old yellow backhoe. You may also find him initiating a cake or pillow fight, riding a kids bicycle or telling an animated story complete with self made phrases, or "Bifisms". Everything he had he worked, bartered or horse-traded for. He passed on to his offspring and admirers the value of living life fully and unconventionally, without regrets, in full color and full throttle ahead. He instilled the importance of family, the integrity of your word, and making the most out of what you have. "Smoke em and leave em in awe", as he'd say. This is his legacy. He will be missed dearly. He was predeceased by his mother Thelma, father Edward, brothers Michael, Ralph and Robert. Bif is survived by his eight children, Erin, Brandon, Lacey, Scott, Maggie, Annie, Chelsea and Haley and their mother Elizabeth (Birdie); grandchildren; Jadyn, Carson, Bailey, Charlotte and Hunter; siblings Arthur, Sandra Richard, Donny and Edward; and his partner Helen. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 11 from 1-6pm at the VFW hall in Sanford, Maine. Burial and rendering of military honors will be held on Monday, November 13 at noon at the Southern Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Springvale. To leave a message of condolence click tab at left.
