Sandra Guertin Webber, 53, of Shapleigh, died July 25 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a long battle against a chronic illness. She is in pain no more.She was born in Sanford on September 8, 1963, the daughter of Zoel and Georgia (Beety) Guertin, attended local schools and was a 1981 graduate of Sanford High School.Sandy was employed at Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick for several years before ill health forced her retirement.Sandy loved the Maine woods. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling at the camp she and her husband Jim owned in Shirley. She assisted Jim, who is a Maine Guide, on many guided hunting trips. Savvy with a firearm, she shot several moose and bear over the years. It often saddened her to have to come back home from up north.In Shapleigh, she helped her husband maintain their farm, especially tending to the animals. Before her illness, she was an EMT with Shapleigh Fire and Rescue.Survivors include her companion and husband of 23 years Jim Webber of Shapleigh, her mother Georgia Guertin of Sanford, and three brothers, Gerry Guertin, Dale Guertin and Brian Guertin.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 2 at 11:30 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Her ashes will be buried at her camp in Shirley at a later date.Those planning an expression of sympathy might consider the Animal Welfare Society, P. O. Box 43, W.
