Salvatore W. DeGiacomo

Salvatore W. DeGiacomo, 63, of Springvale, ME died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.Salvatore was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 24, 1946 to John and Helen (Whitney) DeGiacomo and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was wounded in action, receiving a Purple Heart.Salvatore was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He liked going out with his friends and singing karaoke. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Salvatore will be remembered as a very generous and caring person who loved to help others. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Salvatore was predeceased by a sister, Joan DeGiacomo.Surviving are two sons, John Cutting of Marshfield, MA and Terry DeGiacomo and his wife Angela of Sanford; three daughters, Janice Firth and her husband Adam of Springvale, Helen DeGiacomo of Springvale and Susan DeGiacomo of Medford, MA; five grandchildren, Alexandria DeGiacomo, Haley Allen, Logan DeGiacomo, Nathan Cutting and Olivia Cutting; four brothers, John DeGiacomo and his wife Carol of Roslindale, MA, Joseph DeGiacomo and his wife Lillian of Braintree, MA, Frank DeGiacomo and his wife Dianne of Utica, NY and Stephen DeGiacomo of Hyde Park, MA; a sister, Kathleen Murray and her husband Daniel of Dedham, MA and a special brother-in-law, Terry Hardy of Shapleigh.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 7th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home on Monday, March 8th.
