Sally Rodes Coleman Woodworth, 85, of Yarmouth, Maine died peacefully in her sleep from complications of Alzheimer's disease on February 2, 2018. Sally was born on August 5, 1932 in New York City, the daughter of Leighton H. Coleman, Esq. and Jane Fraser Coleman. She graduated from the Chapin School in 1950, attended Bradford College for two years and completed her education at Barnard College with a BA in Art History. She was introduced to Gordon, her future husband, by his sister, Joanne, at the Nissequogue Point Beach Club on Long Island, New York. They were married on September 25, 1954 and enjoyed 50 years of adventures before his death in 2004. After many moves in their early years, Sally and Gordon made their home in Dover and Medfield, Massachusetts before landing in Cumberland Foreside, Maine in 1972. They eventually split their time between Maine and Amelia Island, Florida. Regardless of their location, their days were filled with golf, friends, and fun. Sally was always welcoming and warm, their door was always open and ready to host a crowd at a moment's notice. These gatherings were usually the result of Gordon's interest and enthusiasm for those he encountered in his travels, and Sally always rose to the occasion with good food and a bright smile. Sally was a member of the St. Mary's Garden Club and a member of the Portland Country Club for 42 years where she was the Club Champion for three years. How many holes in one did she get? She was competitive in all things but mostly on the golf course! Sally served as a docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History and the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. She also had great passion for traveling the world with her closest friends, attending Red Sox and Bruins games in any weather, tennis, sailing, football, reading, gardening, knitting and collecting art, especially the works of Maine artists. Sally is survived by her four children: Brad and wife Lib of West Bath, Maine, Charles and wife Merrill of Kingfield, Maine, Ann Woodworth Ellis and husband Joe of Greenwood Village, Colorado and Jane Woodworth Rotondi and husband Joe of Cumberland Foreside, Maine. She was the proud grandmother to Arlee, Ben, Sam, Will and Cam Woodworth, Si, Catherine, and Zander Ellis and Nicholas and Jack Rotondi. Sally is also survived by her sister, Helen Coleman Evarts of NYC, NY and Prudence Coleman Sellars of Amelia Island, FL and many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by her sister Jane Coleman Blair and her brother Leighton H. Coleman Jr. Thanks are not enough to the many individuals who made Sally's life rich and meaningful to the very end. With the incredible love, devotion, and humor of Kim, Rhonda, Faith, April, Shirley and many others, her days were always full of laughter and adventure. With the tremendous interest and talent of David Reece of Falmouth Physical Therapy, Sally was able to stay active and strong . The Woodworth family extends their thanks to Mercy Hospital, The Tyler Suite, and A private celebration of Sally's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of three organizations: the Portland Museum of Art, the Maine College of Art or the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer's Research Fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Donations can be made online at www.bwhgiving.org or checks can be made payable to Brigham and Women's Hospital with "In memory of Sally Coleman Woodworth" in the memo line and sent to BWH Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave, 3rd Fl, Boston, MA 02116.
