Sadie A. Carll York Leavitt, 92, of Waterboro, died at her home on Monday, November 23, 2009.Sadie was born in Shapleigh on May 22, 1917 to Harry and Sadie Pray Carll. She grew up in Buxton where she attended local schools. She graduated from Waterboro High School in 1936. Following High School she began working at the Limerick yarn mills where she was employed for several years. She held several other jobs over the years including working as an inspector at Bates Manufacturing Corporation in Saco, at General Electric in Limerick, at the shoe shops in Limerick and Somersworth and finally at Parents Store in Limerick where she was working when she retired at the age of 62. In the early 1970's she moved to Waterboro where she would live for the rest of her life.Sadie had a deep love for animals. She always left food out for any hungry animals in the area and took in several strays over the years. She enjoyed sports and was particularly fond of watching the Boston Red Sox and Tiger Woods. She liked to do word puzzles and to read western novels. She also sold flowers, vegetables, pumpkins and turkeys with her son. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Surviving are her son, Guy York and his wife Cindy of Waterboro; her daughter, Beverly Perkins and her husband Ellsworth of Limington and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 PM with a funeral service being held at 1:30 PM on Friday, November 27th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in South Waterboro.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O.
