Ruth G. Hobson, 93 of North Berwick, passed away at Varney Crossing Nursing Home in North Berwick, Maine after being under care there for the past four years. Ruth was the widow and beloved wife of 41 years of Clarence Edgar Hobson, of Sanford, Maine.Born on August 4, 1921 to Horace V. and Elsie (Bagley) in Revere, Massachusetts where she grew up with four brothers and two sisters. After graduating from high school she worked as a manager with the White Tower Restaurants, where she met the love of her life, Ed Hobson. After marrying, Ruth and Ed moved to Stamford, Connecticut where they raised their three children and Ed worked his entire career of 37 years with the White Tower Management Corporation. The family retired to Sanford, Maine in the early 1970's and lived at their home at Estes Lake for 17 years, enjoying many happy times with friends and family.Ruth was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She never worked outside of the home as her greatest interest was her family and homemaking. She loved gardening, baking and participation in church activities and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, by whom she will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.Ruth is predeceased by her son, Glenn of Alfred, Maine.Ruth is survived by her sister, Ella Bagley, of Alexandria, New Hampshire, daughters Carol Nash and her husband Graham of Dandridge, Tennessee, Gail Carranza and her husband Andres of Chicago, Illinois, daughter-in-law Louann Hobson of Alfred, Maine, grandchildren, Bill Roberts and his wife Sherri of West Newfield, Maine, Kevin Roberts of Texas, Michelle Fuchs and her husband Gary of Coral Springs, Florida, Daniel Carranza of Chicago, Illinois, Jen Lane and her husband Richard of Alfred, Maine, David Hobson of Berlin, New Hampshire, Neil Hobson and his wife Meghan of Alfred, Maine, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be on Saturday, August 8, at 10 A.M., at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main St. Springvale.To leave and expression of sympathy, please click condolences tab at left.
