Ms. Rose M. Piacitelli, 98, of South Portland, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at her home. Rose was born in Portland to the late Loreto and Beatrice (BeRose) Piacitelli. She graduated from Portland High School Class of 1934. Rose was a receptionist and owner of Valrio Beauty Salon for over 40 years. Rose loved animals, especially her beloved cats. She was a very loving, supportive and kind person who was very family oriented. She enjoyed conversations with her nieces and nephews, offering guidance to anyone who needed advice, and loved to do crossword puzzles with her nephews, until her eyesight began to fail. Rose was like a second mother to many. She was predeceased by siblings, Philomena Carlista, Pasqualina Grimaldi, Elena Hersey, Martin Piacitelli, Anthony Piacitelli and John Piacitelli. Rose is survived by her sisters, Mary Grimaldi of South Portland and Yolanda Hunter of East Millinocket; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care given to Rose. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4-7PM at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Funeral Home at 8:15AM Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
