Rose-Marie J. Kirven

Rose-Marie J. Kirven, 78, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Sanford following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Rose-Marie was born on May 16, 1942 to Eugene and Rose (Desormiers) Cloutier in Brockton, Massachusetts where she grew up and attended local Catholic schools. In 1960 she married John Kirven and together they raised six children and shared 45 years of marriage until his death in 2005. During her working life she was employed for many years as a CNA in various health care facilities. She also worked for several years at Vishay Sprague in Sanford and as a chambermaid at several hotels in the Ogunquit area. She would say her most important and favorite job was being a Mom. Rose-Marie loved to play bingo, cards, cribbage, backgammon, poker and all board games. She was also an avid chocolate lover and enjoyed reading and attending youth sporting events where she would cheer her children and grand children on. She and her husband were able to enjoy the sunshine in New Port Richey, Florida for several years during their retirement. They were avid travelers and were able to explore many new places with her sister Gloria and her husband Donald over the years always making new friends in the campgrounds and areas they stayed. Following the death of John she returned to Maine to be closer to family. She was a proud military wife and had been a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW. Rose-Marie had an excellent sense of humor and loved to joke around and play pranks on her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many and will be dearly missed. Rose-Marie was predeceased by her husband, John Kirven, Sr. Surviving are six children, John Kirven, Jr. and his wife Marie of St. Albans, Maine, Paula Oliver and her husband Ira of Dexter, Maine, Rose-Lynne Stadig and her husband Glen of Kingston, New Hampshire, Keeley-Anne Lambert and her husband Rob of Wells, Joe Kirven of Sanford and Sean Kirven and his wife Jeannine of Sanford; 14 grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Christy, Dan, Patrick, Taryn, Alex, Adrianna, Kaydence, Violet, Maci, Nick, Alex and Emily and 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Connor, Sophie and Ella and many nieces and nephews.
