Rosaire E. Cormier
Rosaire Emile Cormier, 90, of Sanford, passed away with tremendous dignity and grace, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Rosaire was born to Emile and Cora Cormier, one of five children, in 1926. He grew up in Sanford where he would later settle and raise his own family with his wife of 69 years. On June 21st 1947 he married his love, Arlene (Perreault) Cormier. Together they would raise 2 daughters, Christine and Carole, in the home that they built together. Rosaire proudly served his country in the Navy, fighting in the invasion of Okinawa, Japan. He worked for 34 years as a mason and took great pride in his craft. He selflessly shared his skills with his family, always willing to lend his hand where it was needed. He was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed camping and hunting trips with dear friends and family. He had a passion for fishing, and after his retirement, he could often be found serving as "first mate" on his good friend Andy's fishing boat. He often reflected to his family that he felt he had been blessed with a long, full life and was fortunate to have experienced all that he had. Rosaire was many things throughout his life, but he will be most remembered for the loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather that he was. Rosaire was predeceased by his parents Emile and Cora Cormier; brother Gerard Cormier and son-in-law Bob Pelletier. He will be dearly missed by his wife Arlene of Sanford; two daughters, Christine of Gray and Carole Wright and husband Robert of Riverside, Washington; two grandchildren, Brian Pelletier and his wife Kim of Gray and Laurie Theberge and her husband Jared of New Gloucester; four great-grandchildren Nicklaus and Sydney Pelletier and Ethan and Evan Theberge and three siblings, Rene Cormier and his wife Arline of Connecticut, Donald Cormier and he wife Theresa of Sanford and Mary Jane Bougie and her husband Roger of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 3rd at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
