Ronald J. Pucci, 77, of Acton, formerly of Dedham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 23, 1946, Ronald was the son of Carl and Mary (Barry) Pucci. Growing up in Brookline, he attended local schools before proudly serving four years in the United States Navy. Upon completing his service, he returned home to dedicate 35 years of his life to the Brookline Fire Department, rising to the esteemed position of Deputy Chief. Ronald took immense pride in his work, earning the honor of firefighter of the year during his career. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Beverly Cochrane, and together they celebrated 52 years of marriage while raising two sons.
An avid golfer, Ronald spent countless hours on the golf course, indulging in his passion when not at the fire station. In 1977, he and Beverly purchased a home on Loon Pond, where they created lasting memories during weekends and vacations before eventually moving to the pond full time several years ago. They also cherished winters in Florida at their vacation home in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Known for his boisterous personality, loud voice, and outgoing nature, Ronald had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking around. Never shy about sharing his opinions, he was an outspoken man with a wide circle of friends. His love for dogs was evident, as he had several canine companions over the years, including Kelly, Gino, Smokey, and his current dog Tobey. Ronald will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents and five siblings, Carl, Jenny, Josephine, Carl, and Gerry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Pucci, of Acton, Maine (formerly of Dedham, Massachusetts); two sons, Ronald C. Pucci and his wife Shannon of Dedham, MA, and Michael R. Pucci of Walpole, MA; two grandchildren, Ronald T. and Jessica J. Pucci, both of Dedham, MA; a sister, Dolores Pucci of Brookline, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 AM, with funeral prayers following at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 2nd, at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Interment with military honors will take place at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Stanley Road in Springvale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

When he was a rookie FF. he was detailed to Ladder 2 quarters which also housed the Fire Alarm division, the Depts dispatchers. The guys at L-2 would hang out in the FA office chatting with the dispatchers listening to radio chatter etc.
One of the dispatchers was a notorius practical joker especially with the younger guys, rookies. Ronzo was in the office one night when this dispatcher, while listening to some back- ground music ,Sinatra. He asked Ronzo if he would like to dance. Bad move; Ron said sure , and proceeded to wisk around the office quite deftly much to the horror of the dispatcher in his arms. At the end Ron dipped the poor bastard and planted a big wet kiss on his lips. The guy never pulled any more BS with anyone. For years Ron would occasionally wink at the guy. “LIfe is long alley with a lot of trash cans in the way”. an old quote from an old leather head. RIP Ron
