Roland Bernier

Roland Bernier, 77, of Sanford, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital. He was born in Sanford on September 12, 1931, a son of Edward and Viola (McGinnis) Bernier. He attended local Sanford schools. On August 28, 1954, he married the former Betty Tuttle at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius parish. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Viola Bernier. He is also predeceased by one sister, Rita Pelletier and one brother, Leo Bernier.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Bernier of Sanford, his children, Linda Bernier Houle of Sanford and Ricky Bernier of Portland, two grandchildren, two sisters, Sr. Maria Goretti Bernier, O.S.U., of Lewiston and Marion Baron of Sanford.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11am at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.
