Roger J. Lapierre, 76, of Lyman, passed away on Saturday August 11, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Upton, MA, on September 20, 1930, a son of Joseph and Corine (Paille) Lapierre. He attended local schools in Upton.In 1948 he enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Consolation during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. For many years he owned and operated a restaurant in Milford, MA. He moved to Lyman in 1984 and from 1986 until 2004 he was employed as an attendant at the Lyman Transfer Station.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose (Gaskill) Lapierre of Lyman, one son, Mark Lapierre Sr., of Lyman, one grandson, Mark Lapierre Jr., of Lyman, one grandaugter, Melissa Lapierre of Windham, two brothers, Gerald Lapierre of Upton, MA and Everett Lapierre of Uxbridge, MA, two sisters, Rose Marie Horton of Upton, MA and Linda LaBastie of Mendon, MA.Visiting hours will be on Friday August 17 from 6 to 8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am. Burial will be at the Gaskill Family Cemetery in Mendon, MA.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Goodwins Mills Rescue, 481 Goodwins Mills Road, Lyman, Maine 04002.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
