Roger A. Cote, 89 of Sebring Florida died at his home with hospice care on December 29th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He previously lived in Sanford for over 60 years.He was born in Woonsocket R.I. on November 22, 1926 to the late Louis Cote and Maria (Viens) Cote.He served honorably in the US Navy from Mar. 1944 to Oct. 1947 and received many medals of accommodation. He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 30 years before retiring in 1982. In 1983, he and his wife Germaine started spending their winters in Florida and continued being snowbirds for 29 years. They enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and hitting the casino's until Roger's health declined. They stayed in Maine full time for two years, got a taste of Maine winters again and decided to move back to Florida permanently in 2014, settling in Sebring near one of their daughters.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Germaine (Moreau) Cote, two daughters, Claire Trott and her husband Louis of Sanford and Nancy Whirley of Sebring, FL and a son Steven Cote and his wife Terry. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jeremy Trott and his girlfriend Rose of Sanford, Jeffery Trott and his wife Jenny of Shapleigh and Erik Cote of Portland and four great grandchildren, Britney, Bryce, Brady and Briana Trott.He was predeceased by his son Gary, his son-in-law Robert Whirley and his sister Yvonne Cote Moreau.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for both Roger and his son Gary on Saturday June 1st at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's name to the American Legion, 656 Main Street, Sanford, ME 04073 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38101.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
