Rodney J. Lavallee
Rodney J. Lavallee, 83 years old, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial House in Scarborough, surrounded by his family, on September 16, 2019 after a lengthy illness.Rodney is survived by his son, John Lavallee, granddaughter Lauren Lavallee and partner Morgan Jacques, grandson Nicholas Lavallee, and great grandson Greyson Jacques, all of Sanford, a brother Edward Lavallee, as well as a sister Betty-Ann Inniss, both of Biddeford.Rodney was born in Sanford on September 22, 1935, the oldest of 3 children to Alfred and Dorothy (Olsen) Lavallee. Rodney attended school locally in Sanford and after high school, enlisted in the US Army and served honorably during the Korean War, where he was stationed overseas. After returning home from his tour of duty he held various positions of employment and later retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1995.Rodney was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He would look forward to deer hunting season all year long, as well as fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter months. Rodney also loved anything to do with cars and racing. Above all, one of the most important things to him was his dog, Bella. She was cherished by him in so many ways and she will forever miss her "pepere".Anyone who had the opportunity to know Rodney will remember him as the caring, generous, easy going, and loving person that he was. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need before thinking of himself. His sense of humor will always be known as the one thing he never lost.Funeral arrangements will be private Burial with military honors will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.
