Robert J. Letourneau

Robert J. Letourneau, 91, of Sanford, the loving husband of the late Yvonne (Cote) Letourneau, died peacefully at home with family on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Robert was born in Springvale on July 20, 1919, son of the late Eugene & Lydia (Dubois) Letourneau and lived his entire life in Springvale/Sanford. Robert served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy Seabees, stationed in Guam. After WW II he worked as a loom fixer for the Goodall Mills in Springvale and later as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. During retirement he and Yvonne enjoyed traveling and were avid campers, spending their winters in Fort Pierce, FL for almost 20 years. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and tennis. He especially liked seafood dinners out with his family. Robert was predeceased by his sister, Lucy (Floriska) Bergeron, and his young daughter, Helen. He is survived by five loving children and their spouses - Dolores Arseneault of Annapolis, MD; Rene R. Letourneau and his wife, Colette, of East Hartford, CT; Paul J. Letourneau of Shapleigh; Leo G. Letourneau and his wife, Marsha, of Kennebunkport; Maurice E. Letourneau and his wife, Dottie, of Acton; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; his sister, Jeanne (Letourneau) Beaupre; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale, Maine on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
