PORTLAND – Robert Jordan, lovingly known as “Bobby” or “Bupa,” passed away on November 21, 2024, at the age of 66.
A lifelong resident of Portland, Maine, Bobby grew up on Frances Street and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life. A proud graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1976, Bobby was an exceptional swimmer, earning the title of state champion and coming remarkably close to competing in the Olympics. His competitive spirit and dedication to excellence were qualities that carried through all aspects of his life. Bobby made his mark on Portland’s waterfront as a commercial fisherman and fish cutter, gaining a reputation as one of the fastest and most skilled fish cutters around. His expertise and generosity helped many newcomers get their start in the fishing industry, and his presence on the docks was legendary. Beyond his career, Bobby was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and incredible artistic talent. He had a way of making everyone laugh and brightening the lives of those around him. He found joy in golfing and being near the ocean, always appreciating the beauty and tranquility of the water.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his siblings, Fredrick Jordan, Jr., Karen Jordan, Katherine Silver, Timothy Jordan, and Craig Jordan, as well as two grandsons and several extended relatives and friends who will miss his laughter and lighthearted spirit.
A funeral service honoring Bobby’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.

So sorry for the loss of your brother Bobby. Growing up just down the street, everyone in Libbytown knew Bupa and the Jordan family.
