Robert C. Hoffman, 74, of Lebanon, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his home.Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 1, 1935 to Sidney and Irene Gatke Hoffman. He was employed for many years at both the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.Robert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had his pilots license and enjoyed flying out to remote areas in northern Maine to enjoy the outdoors. He collected guns and enjoyed using his computer. Robert was active in the Doberman Rescue League. He loved dogs and had a special place in his heart for his two dogs Susie and Shadow. He was a member and former instructor for the National Rifle Association and had been involved in Lebanon town politics. Robert will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Robert was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Margaret Hoffman, a son, Robert Hoffman and a grandson, Patrick Brown.Surviving are six daughters, Linda Lloyd of Lebanon, Christine Truitt of Delaware, Barbara Bridge of Lebanon, Lisa Langley of Lebanon, Margaret Gregoire of Limerick, and Amy Donle of Parsonsfield; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ronald Hoffman of Florida and Richard Hoffman of Colorado.Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 6th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
