Robert Francis Gordon

robert gordon
PORTLAND - Robert Francis Gordon, 67, of North Street, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2017. Born in Portland on December 7, 1950, Robert was the son of the late Russell Gordon and Marie Elaine (Duperre) Simpson. In his early years, Bob attended Cathedral Grammar School and graduated from Cheverus High School Class of 1968. Following high school, Robert attended the seminary in New York in order to enter the Priesthood. However, he left the Seminary to pursue an education in pharmaceuticals. After graduating from Boston College School of Pharmacy, Bobby returned to Portland where he worked for 40 years at Mercy Hospital as a pharmacist. Bob retired in 2016 after a long career where he considered his co-workers as his extended family. Bob was a kind and giving man who would often work part time, even after retirement, to cover weekends and holidays so his co-workers could spend time with their families. Outside of his career, Bob enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Florida and Puerto Rico, having spent time there in the weeks before his passing. He is survived by his brothers, Donald Dwyer of Hollis and Thomas Higgins and wife Bonnie of Scarborough. Bob is also survived by his nephews, Stephen Higgins, Joseph Higgins and Paul Dwyer; several extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours celebrating Bob's life will be held on Friday, January 5 from 4-6PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6 at 10AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland. Private interment will follow at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.

  5. Bob had been a wonderful friend for many years; he was generous to a fault, but most of all he was the kindest person you could ever meet! We shared a ‘sick sence of humor’ which of course we thoroughly enjoyed! We entertained each other both at work and socially!! I will miss him a lot , but I know that Jack is driving him around heaven right now!! RIP my friend, I will miss you ! Love
