Robert Charles Fournier

December 26, 1928 ~ September 7, 2017
Rangeley - Robert "Bob" Charles Fournier, 88, of Rangeley, ME and Sarasota, FL, formerly of Manchester, NH, died suddenly with his wife by his side on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Bob was born in Sewell, Chile, South America, the son of the late Henry and Viola (Hood) Fournier on December 26, 1928. His family then moved to Mexico where Bob spent his school years at a private school run by a German establishment. Spanish and German quickly became second nature during his eleven years in Mexico.
After high school, in Livermore Falls, ME, Bob received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine. He also served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. After his discharge, Bob spent time in New York City then moved to New Hampshire because of his love of the New England area. He began a career at the Public Service Company of N.H., where he met his future wife, Carol. A few years later the two married on November 5, 1969 in Manchester.
Bob retired from Public Service Company but his endless energy convinced him to start his own company where he brokered high voltage electrical equipment. After 20 years of working his second career, Bob decided it was time to spend time traveling the world with Carol and doing the hobbies he loved. He enjoyed finished carpentry and became very proficient. Bob was an avid tennis player, enjoyed fly fishing and was a grouse hunter with their English Setters. He often said that the best years of his life were the 35 years he spent with his wife at Sturtevant Pond.
Bob will be remembered for his generosity, spirit and his sharp mind and wit. He always showed extreme courage when faced with the loss of vision and hearing. Among many of his life highlights, was the trip to Sewell, Chile where he was able to see where he was born. He will be missed by his wife, family and many friends.
Bob was a member and supporter of many conservation and professional engineering organizations.
He was predeceased by his brother, Henry Fournier. He is survived by his wife, Carol Fournier; daughter, Sally Daisomont; sons, William Fournier, Robert Fournier and their spouses; sister, Constance Fournier; two precious granddaughters.
