Robert E. Tuttle Sr., of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born on December 27, 1954 in Sanford, the son of Maurice and Arlene (Moulton) Tuttle, and remained a lifelong resident of the community. Robert attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.

In 1988, he married Lora Ducharme, and together they shared 38 years of marriage filled with love and devotion.

Robert worked for many years in the local shoe industry. He was employed at Encore Shoe and later at Expanded Rubber, where he eventually retired. He was a hardworking and dependable man who took pride in providing for his family.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports on television. Those who knew him will remember him as a gentle, loving, kind, and sweet man who cared deeply for his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Maurice Tuttle; and his stepdaughter, Heather Hersey.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Lora Tuttle of Sanford; his children, Jessica Bickford of North Port, Florida, and Robert Tuttle Jr. of Sanford; as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Black, Heald & Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME 04083.

  2. to my nephew Robert (Bobby), you will be sadly missed by everyone. we had so much fun as kids when you would come to portsmouth so your dad could help your grandpa, my dad on the truck on monday nights, i will always remember those days when you would stay for the weekend too. and when i lived in Texas you and Jimmy came to visit me for a couple of weeks. you were so good natured, always had a big smile. Be at peace Bobby, no more pain.
