Robert G. Chaisson
Robert G. Chaisson (Bob), 90 of Wells Beach and formerly of Biddeford, died Saturday May 21, 2011 at Huntington Common in Kennebunk after a long illness. Bob was born in Sanford on December 26, 1920, a son of the late Jean-Pierre and Yvonne (Richard) Chiasson. He attended Sanford schools and then enlisted and served in the US Navy during WWII.Bob married Monique Bernard on September 18, 1943 in Springvale and they were married for 64 years until her passing in 2008.Bob began his work history in Sanford for S & S Cleaners and then went to work for Curly Trucking. He then worked for 22 years at MacCarthy Trucking which served First National Stores until their closing. He retired in 1980 during which time he was employed by St. Johnsbury. During his retirement Bob engaged in maintaining his beloved beach property and helping his neighbors throughout the year. His favorite past time was being out on the ocean in his boat, lobstering and fishing with friends and family. Soon after retirement he and his wife travelled from Maine to California by car, seeing all of our nations historic sights, on their way to visit their son, and they also enjoyed wintering in Florida.Bob is predeceased by his parents as well as his wife.He is survived by his son, Albert Chaisson and his wife, Adele of Oceanside, CA, his daughters, Suzanne Jeffers and her husband, John of Waterboro, Charline Fortin and her husband, Richard of Dayton, and Carol Newell and her husband, Phillip of Kennebunk. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Keith, Sean, Joel, Shannin, Danielle, Elisha and Ashley as well as six great grandchildren, Cody, Issiah, Bradyn, Rose, Kylie and Eva.Visiting hours for Bob will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
