Robert Boyd

Robert Boyd, Sr., 62, of Sanford, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Greenwood Center in Sanford.Robert was born in Sanford on October 10, 1946 to Isaac and Arlene (Perkins) Boyd. He was a 1966 graduate of Wells High School. He worked for approximately 35 years as an inspector at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was long time member of the Sanford Elks Lodge and was an active member of A.A. He also belonged to the Audubon Society, the World Wildlife Federation and was a past president of the Chit Chat Club in Sanford. Robert was a quiet man who enjoyed reading and was particularly fond of Stephen King novels. He also enjoyed listening to country music. He collected ducks or anything that had a picture of a duck on it and also collected wolves. Robert will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Robert was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Shalhoup.Surviving are a son, Robert Boyd, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Sanford; a stepson Wayne Russell and his wife Sharon of Saco; a stepdaughter Barbara Rainville and her husband Oscar of Minnesota; a sister, Beverly Corson of Sanford, two nieces, Angelyn Kraut of Sanford and Karen Dapkus of Nashua, NH; a nephew, Dean Shalhoup of Nashua, NH and several grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31st at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will take place in the Spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the World Wildlife Federation, World Wildlife Fund 1250 Twenty-Fourth Street, N.W., P.O.
