South Portland - Robert "Bob" F. Blackadar, 76, died on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on Sept. 1, 1941, in Queens Hospital in Portland, the son of the late C.W. and Frances A. (Pinkos) Blackadar. He attended local schools, and he honorably served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. In 1960, Bob married Patricia Greenier in Ft. Devens, MA, and they were married for 52 years, until her death in 2013. After serving his country, Bob was proud to work as a Portland Police Officer from 1969 to 1989.
In Bob's free time he enjoyed everything New England including watching his New England sports teams, with the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and of course the NY Giants; and reading stories of the New England mobsters and Emily Dickenson; as well as listening to Bob Dylan and classic rock music. Bob will be remembered as a funny and loving father and grandfather who shared his love of cooking, movies and music with his family.
The family would like to thank the entire VNA hospice team, Liz, Donna, Shelly, Jenn, Jennifer, Judy and especially Amanda. Their compassion and support made this difficult time easier.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Blackadar. He is survived by his daughter, Michele Murphy and her husband Daniel of South Portland; two sons, Christopher Blackadar and his wife Natalie Serrage of MA, Aaron Blackadar and his wife Jennatha of South Portland; a brother, Kevin Blackadar of Portland; and five grandchildren, Robert, Katie and her husband Evan, Jack, Liberty, and Kathleen.

Our deepest sympathy to the Blackadar Family. Bob was a good man, a loyal friend and a true patriot who served his country as member of the U.S. Army, and a caring Police officer for the City of Portland. It was an honor to have served with him for over 20 years. RIP Bob. Pete and Collette Conley
