Rita M. Marston

Rita M. Marston, 87, died November 26 at The Pavilion in Sanford after a long illness.She was born in Springvale on December 9, 1924, the daughter of Jean and Emma (Blouin) Couture and attended Notre Dame Elementary School.She worked in the Sanford Mills, the Springvale Shoe Shop, Aletta's Dress Factory and retired from Jagger Brothers mill in 1986.Never haven gotten her driver's license, Rita will be fondly remembered as the lady who walked everywhere. At 78 years old, she could be seen walking from her home in Springvale to Walmart, a good five mile walk one way.She was predeceased by her husband, William (Billy) Marston in 1982, by a son Donald Marston in 1983 and by a daughter Marlene Paradis in 2003.Survivors include her daughter Elaine Blanchard of Sanford, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her brother Roland Couture and his wife Ida.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at Notre Dame Church, 10 Payne Street, Springvale. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
