Rita B. Bernier

Rita was born in Sanford on December 8, 1924 to Eugene and Graziella (Gagnon) Bernier. She attended Holy Family School and St. Ignatius High School. During her working life Rita was employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Moulton and Dr. Richard. She also worked for Independent Lumber in Stoughton, MA, Aletta Dress Company in Springvale and Gendron's Lumber Company in Sanford.Rita was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church for many years. She was very active in the church and sang in the St. Ignatius choir for 23 years. She loved listening to music and attending the opera. Family was always very important to Rita. She enjoyed spending many summers with her family at Lake Winnipesaukee. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Surviving are a brother, Gerard Bernier, of Sanford; four sisters, Yvonne Batakis of Virginia, Theresa Gagnon of Sanford, Priscilla Williams of Sanford and Leona Merrow of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be on Saturday, February 27th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford.
