Richard H. Rice

Scarborough- Richard H. Rice, 82, died Sunday April 7, at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Richard was born on August 4, 1936, in Portland, to Fredrick and Hildegarde (Harmon)Rice. He was a Scarborough High School and Maine Maritime Academy graduate. Richard served in the US Navy and as a Merchant Marine. He worked at Maine Medical Center for 25 years operating the boiler room. An avid outdoors man, he loved to hunt and enjoyed lobstering from Ferry Beach where he lived the majority of his lifetime. Richard is survived by his wife Claudia "Ginger" Rice of Scarborough; daughter, Jennifer Rice Boucher and her husband John of Scarborough; and grandchildren, Alexandria McKinney, Olivia Roy, Jordan Boucher and Olivia Boucher. Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
