Richard Provencher

Richard (Dick) A. Provencher, 89, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, with his family by his side. He was born in Sanford, Maine October 14, 1928, the son of Hector J. Provencher and Alice F. (Dumais) Provencher. He attended St. Ignatius School in Sanford, Maine and graduated in 1947.Richard worked as lineman for Central Maine Power Co. for 47 years until he retired in 1991.Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time "upta" camp at Mousam Lake, where he went fishing with his loving wife Carmen, and where he enjoyed family reunions. He also enjoyed fishing trips to Russell's Cabins in Rangeley.He was predeceased by his loving wife Carmen of 52 years, his brother Alfred Provencher, his grandson Shawn M. Provencher, and his daughter-in-law Holly (McDonald) Provencher. He is survived by his sister Pauline Lavigne of East Berlin, CT.Richard will be remembered and cherished by six children, Michael R. in Vassalboro, David P. and his wife Pauline in Sanford, Paul R. in Sanford, Dennis N. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Celeste Fletcher in Sanford, and Ronald M. and his wife Angie in Monticello, Iowa. He will also be remembered by ten grandchildren, Carrie Provencher, Heide Provencher, Jason Provencher and his wife Emily, Julie Roberts and her husband Darren, Heather Provencher and her husband Adam Oesterle, Katelyn Perkins and her husband Billy, Ryan Fletcher and his wife Alisha, Matthew Fletcher and his wife Sarah, Jo Provencher, and Kyle Provencher. Fifteen great grandchildren, Mariah, Cameron, Kenzie, Tanner, Ethan, Megan, Elliott, Bailey, Keira, Addison, Aiden, Charlotte, Echo, Riley, and Madison.Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 15th from 6 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 10AM.
