Richard L Morrison

South Portland- Richard L. Morrison, 95, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 18th, 2026.

Born August 7th, 1930, in South Portland, Maine. He was a graduate of Portland High School class of 1948. He worked at Nissan Bakery, until he married his high school sweetheart, Carmela in 1952. He then enlisted in the army and served three years in the Korean war as a Sargent and master cook.
Returning from war, he went to Maine Vocational-Technical Institute and graduated as a Radio and Television technician. He worked at Portland Copperworks for 16 years, until it closed. He then used his skills and went into business as TV repairman.

Later, he went into business with his wife, Carmela at “Carmela Designer” upholstering furniture and installing window treatments. He was an excellent upholster and retired at 87. He was a perfectionist and his workmanship showed it.

He was very proud of owning the Historical Hannaford house in Cape Elizabeth, where they lived for 61 years. It became a tradition when the grandchildren were young, for the whole family to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas together. It was a magical time of games, food, love and laughter.

He beamed with pride and joy as he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren so much.

Dick had many wonderful hobbies. Photography was one of them. He always shared his picture of a two headed tulip. A rarity, and his pride and joy. He was proud to share his beautiful pictures with others.

In his younger years, he was an excellent skier taking his family to many ski slopes. One of his many joys.

He taught his kids to play tennis, pool, poker, chess and would stay up late with his kids in a hard-fought game of monopoly or life. He would never let you win; you had to earn it.

He was predeceased by his 2 brothers and sister.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carmela of 73 years, his four children, Richard Morrison II, Pamela McKeever and her husband, Gene, Leigh Ann Larocque and Patricia Morrison: his four grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer Valliere and her husband Jeff, Brian Larocque and his wife, Laura, Jeffrey Larocque, Alyssa Griggs, and four great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be greatly missed.
