Richard W. Hackley
Richard W. Hackley, 90, of Shapleigh and formerly of Mattapan, MA, passed away surrounded by his family at his residence in Shapleigh on Thursday July 28, 2011. He was born in Boston, MA, on August 21, 1920, a son of the late Herbert F. and Ruth A. (Whipple) Hackley. He attended Boston schools and Hyde Park High School.He served with the Navy CB's during WWII in the Pacific and Midway conflicts.He retired from Westinghouse in Readville, MA with 36 years of service with the company. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.He is predeceased by his wife, Ella M. (Twitchell) Hackley who passed away in 2001.Survivors include his children, Charlie Hackley of Shapleigh, Robert Hackley of Medford, MA, Paul Hackley of Norton, MA, Nancy Gillis and her husband, Vince, of Shapleigh and formerly of Gloucester, MA, Laurel Faletra, formerly of Norton, MA, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.Funeral services will be private in Readville, MA.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Shapleigh Rescue, PO Box 51, Shapleigh, ME 04076 and to the Ross Corner Fire Dept., 1787 Gore Road, Shapleigh, ME 04076.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
