Resided in:
Alfred, Maine
Richard C. Guinard “Ricky” of Alfred, Maine passed away on February 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Ricky was born on December 11, 1950, in Sanford, Maine. He grew up in Emery Mills, Maine with his parents and his five siblings. Some of his fondest memories from childhood were swimming at the Mousam Lake Dam or playing sports with his brother Bobby and all the neighborhood kids.
Ricky attended grade school in Shapleigh and then graduated from Sanford High School in 1970. It was at Sanford High School where Ricky met the love of his life Dorothy Ann Burns (Dottie). Shortly after high school Ricky and Dottie were married and had a son, Timothy. In 1974, Ricky built their first house and the family settled down and grew roots in Alfred.
Ricky was an accomplished carpenter by trade. He built and remodeled several houses throughout southern Maine. He and Dottie also enjoyed building three more custom colonial houses of their own in Alfred. In 1988, they built “the Cottage in the Woods” where the two still lived together until Ricky’s passing.
Throughout the years, Ricky made many lifelong friends. They enjoyed dirt biking, snowmobiling, canoeing, and Harley road trips. Ricky loved having a good time and was known as the life of the party. He was the kind of guy that could make you laugh and put a smile on your face even on your worst day. He was also caring, loyal and dependable and was glad to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Ricky’s greatest accomplishment in life was that of a father and grandfather. From the time Timmy was born, Ricky was devoted to him. He made sure he had the best childhood. They had many special memories watching and going to Patriots’ games, snowmobiling in the winter, and riding three wheelers in the spring and summer. Ricky also spent several years coaching Tim’s little league teams and coaching football. In 1999, Ricky was proud to have helped Tim and his wife Terri build their own beautiful home in Alfred, where they too would grow roots.
In 2001, Ricky became a grandfather, and his little buddy Jason became his best friend. Ricky cherished his time with his grandson four wheeling, snowmobiling, or making trips to the toy department at Wal-Mart. In the summertime, the two of them could be found doing what Ricky loved best, swimming and playing in the pool along with Ricky and Dottie’s beloved dog Anna-Belle.
Ricky was predeceased by his parents Clinton and Kathleen; his brother Douglas; and his sisters Sylvia and Dawn. He is survived by his soul mate Dottie of Alfred; his son Timothy and his wife Terri of Alfred; his grandson Jason of Alfred; brother Robert and wife Donna Guinard of Springvale; sister Kim and husband Bryan Libbey of Wells; and brother Clayton Guinard; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church in Alfred on Wednesday, February 21st at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital: www.raising.stjude.org Rick Guinard Memorial Fund.
The Guinard family would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to Dr. Jennifer Palminteri, the New England Cancer Specialists, and Gosnell Hospice of Southern Maine for exceptional care. In addition, the family is grateful for the special love and care provided by Kim Libbey and Eileen Palminteri in Ricky’s final days.

Ricky was an amazing man. He was so supportive of his family and community. We have many great memories of time together from Superbowls or GOT watch parties, cheering on our boys at football but probably my favorite memories were the winters we spent in his garage building cornhole boards for one of our many fundraisers. While our hearts are broken, we are thankful for the moments we shared.
Dottie, We are so sorry to hear of Ricky passing. I was a class mate of his in HS. He was a comedian at heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Sincerely, Ricky &’Rachel (Collette)’Burbank

Kathy & I would like to express our deepest sorrow for your loss.
May Rick rest in peace. He will be greatly missed by all.
We love you, Dad! You were the best!
