Richard A. Fitzpatrick, "Fitz", passed away on June 19, 2016, with his wife by his side.He was born on January 16, 1941, to Joseph and Dorothy (Igoe) Fitzpatrick, in Melrose, Massachusetts. He grew up there and served his country for six years in the US Army Military Police, 382nd battalion, stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, Fitzpatrick worked in industrial security in the private sector. He served as director of operations for several companies. He ended his career employed as a security officer by the Federal Protective Services. He also proudly served as Business Agent for UGSOA, Local 273B.Richard loved his home in Hollis, Maine, where he enjoyed doing woodworking crafts. He enjoyed cribbage, golf, the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. A favorite pastime was holding "town meetings" with his neighbor and dear friend, Bill Goldschmidt. He recently served on the Hollis Planning Board until his health caused him to resign.He is predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and John Fitzpatrick and a sister Elizabeth McLean.He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, four daughters, Shirley Mann and husband Eric of North Andover, MA, Kelley MacGlashing of Maynard, MA, MaryBeth Percy and husband Ron, of Bolton, MA, Lindz Fitzpatrick of South Portland, two stepdaughters Pam Laflamme and husband Paul, and Gretchen Taillon and her partner Mike Scala of Gorham, NH, grandchildren Kelsey and Jimmy MacGlashing, John and Danny McNulty, Morgan Percy, Peter and Alexandra Mann, Matt and Kate Laflamme, and Ethan and Evan Taillon. Survivors also include sisters Shirley Preble of Bradford, MA and Sandra Fitzpatrick of Lynn, MA and a sister in law Georgia Fitzpatrick of Seabrook, NH. A graveside service will be held on, Thursday, June 23 at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale at 11:00 A.M.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
