Richard W. Dugre
Richard W. "Duke" Dugre, 76, of Sanford, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Duke was born in Springvale on July 6, 1937 to Amedee and Marie Anne (Sevigny) Dugre where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1956. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After proudly serving in the military for three years he completed his enlistment and returned to Sanford where he married Bertha Boulet in 1959. They shared 54 happy years together and raised three children. Duke was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years until he retired in 2000.Duke was an outdoor enthusiast and was an outgoing man with many friends. He was an avid tennis player and a pickleball ambassador. He was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish. Duke always made spending time with his family a priority. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Duke was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Masse.Surviving are his wife, Bertha Dugre of Sanford; two children, Stephen Dugre of Waldorf, Maryland and Michelle Sherman and her husband Richard of Springvale; his son-in-law Michael Masse and his wife Rebecca of Katy, Texas; six grandchildren, Caitlin Masse and Andrew Masse, both of Katy, Texas, Nicholas Dugre and Kristen Dugre, both of Waldorf, Maryland and Kendra Sherman and Sarah B. Sherman, both of Springvale; four siblings, Irene Mutty and her husband Tom Yates of Lansing, Michigan, Ronald Dugre and his wife Lorina of Sanford, Robert Dugre of Florida and Roger Dugre of Limerick and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 25th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 25th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
