Richard L. Courcy, 62, of Alfred, died at his home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.Richard was born in West Warwick, Rhode Island on March 4, 1951, the first born son of the late Raymond and Rachel (Langlois) Courcy. Richard graduated from Bishop Hendricks High School. Following high school Richard attended the University of Rhode Island, receiving his B.A. degree in 1973 followed by a M.B.A. in 1976. He was certified by the APICS at the CFPIM level in the area of production and inventory control and CIRM in integrated resource management.After college, Rich began a long career where he was a very dynamic and results-oriented business executive with extensive manufacturing and financial experience, successfully managing financial and manufacturing operations. He had a post graduate work history that included General Dynamics, FRAM-Automotive Div, RAYMARK-Aftermarket Division; Power Systems Inc., Computer Associates International (CULLINET Software), J. D.Edwards (an ORACLE Company). He was also co-owner and managed Shape Global Technology of Sanford, Maine (2002-2007) as well as the Principal Managing Consultant for ROI Solutions Associates Inc. for many years.Richard was predeceased by his parents, as well as his sister, Rita M. Courcy.Surviving are his companion of 30 years, Irene Lannon of Alfred, Maine; he was a beloved "father", mentor and friend to Irene's three children Joanne Forson of Worcester, MA; John Lannon of Grafton, MA; and Kevin Lannon of Menononie, WI. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Kyle Lannon (also godson); Alyson Whalen; Ryan Lannon; Sarah Lannon; Jennifer Lannon; two great grandchildren, Madison Whalen and Ty Whalen; his brother, Ronald W. Courcy of Exeter, RI; his niece and godchild Lydia (Courcy) Miudo and her husband David of Greene, RI and great uncle to their children, Sophia, Amelia and Jack Miudo; his aunt Jean (Langlois) Roy of New Bedford, MA; his uncle Arthur Langlois of Albuquerque, New Mexico; as well as 12 first cousins and their families.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 9th at the Alfred Parish Church, located at 8 Kennebunk Road in Alfred.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
