Richard H. Bragg, Jr., 75, of Sanford, died at his home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, with his family by his side. Richard was born on May 25, 1947, to Richard and Norma (Gordon) Bragg in Acton where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1965. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Sergeant and proudly served in Vietnam. After completing his tour in the military, he returned home and went to school in Massachusetts to learn television and VCR repair. In 1968 he married Helen Therrien and together they raised two children and shared 54 years of marriage. Richard was employed for several years at Central Furniture in Sanford before taking a position at United X-Ray/Philips Medical Systems where he stayed for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a talented banjo player and often played music with his friends in different places. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish. Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, riding his motorcycle and spending time outdoors. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Richard was predeceased by his parents and by a sister, Patricia Bragg. Surviving are his wife, Helen Bragg of Sanford; two children, Jennifer Levesque and her husband Paul of Nashua, New Hampshire and Timothy Bragg and his girlfriend Crystal Towne of Sanford; his former daughter-in-law, Tammy Bragg of Steubenville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Felicia and Angelica Levesque and Justen, Kyla and Shayna Bragg; two great-grandchildren, Arya and Abel; three siblings, Tom Bragg and his significant other, Carol Lovejoy, Karen Bragg Neville Stevens and her significant other Dennis McClatchy and Stephen Bragg and his wife Irene and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 12thth at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

    My deepest condolences. Another piece of my heart is missing and can only be filled when we meet up again, Rick. My treasured memories will forever make me smile and I thank you for those.   3. Rick was a great co-worker and friend. He had a wonderful attitude and was very supportive of his customers and fellow service engineers. He made a lasting impression on all of us at Philips. Rick will be in our hearts and memories

  4. My prayers and condolences are with Helen and the family right now . I am sure he was greeted in heaven by many . My fondest memory was at cousin Billy and Robbie’s wedding I had just started dating his cousin Jimmy he said I will see you at the next wedding I am for sure . The next wedding yes I was there for Jimmy’s sister Donna and he then again said I will see you at the next wedding . Then there was cousin Ann Marie and Jim’s wedding and again he said I will see you at the next wedding . Jimmy and I were married in 1991 and as he danced with me at our wedding he said see I told you this was going to happen I knew the first time Jimmy introduced you to the family .   12. Aunt Helen, Jen and Timmy. I am so sorry for your loss. I have many great memories of Uncle Ricky at the annual 4th of July celebration and other family gatherings when we were kids. I still remember him playing the banjo and always checking in with me when I saw him at Maine Med X-ray Dept all so many years ago. May your happy memories carry you through this trying time.   13. Rick was a wonderful person, excellent field service engineer and was considered part of the Mercy Hospital Imaging family for his support of the staff during good times and sad times.
    His family was his everything. He just had to say Helen’s name and you knew how strong their bond was.
