Richard A. Bourassa, 66, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, November 21 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born on March 4, 1953 in Sanford, a son of the late Eugene and Cecile (Boutin) Bourassa. He attended St. Ignatius High School and after the schools closing he attended and graduated from Sanford High School in 1971. On October 30th of that year he married Claire Normand at Notre Dame Church in Springvale.For nine years he was employed at Tenneford Weaving. He was then employed as a supervisor at Pratt & Whitney retiring after 34 years of service with the company. Richard was actively involved for over 10 years as a chairman for the Cub Scouts 318. For over 32 years he and his family enjoyed camping at Apple Valley Campground in Acton. Richard was dedicated to what he put his mind into this not only included to his work but also his family, friends and all who knew him.He is predeceased by his parents as well as one brother, Paul Bourassa.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Claire Bourassa, daughter, Rebecca McCann and her husband Todd, son, Jeffery and his wife, Jocelyn, grandchildren, Tanner and Zoey McCann, Eden and Philip Richard Bourassa, one brother, Donald Bourassa.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 26, from 5 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at Notre Dame Church in Springvale.
