Richard E. Boulet
Richard E. "Coach" Boulet, 76 of Shapleigh passed away suddenly on Thursday August 22, 2013 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Springvale on February 9, 1937 a son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Huard) Boulet. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1956. He then enlisted and served in the US Air Force until 1959. Dick coached football at St. Ignatius High School from 1963 until 1969. During this time the school won the state championship title in 1967 and co championship title in 1968. He was extensively involved with the youth sports programs in town where he refereed and coached the Little League and the SSYAA football programs. He retired in 1997 from General Electric after 37 years of service with the company.Dick was heavily involved with the Sanford Elks Lodge #1470. A lifetime member, he was instrumental in establishing the yearly Youth Awards Banquet as well as being a 20 plus year member of the Maine Children's Cancer Program. He was also involved and was a member of the Springvale Social Club, the Lafayette Club as well as the Wolves Club.Dick loved his sports, children, family, friends and golf.He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Green) Boulet, sister, Lorraine Porter.He is survived by his wife, Cecile (Gosselin) Boulet of Shapleigh, children, David Boulet and his companion, Pam Sevigney of Salem, NH, Dan Boulet and his companion, Bonnie Walker of Sanford, Jim Blouin and his wife, Karyn of Springvale, sister, Bertha Dugre and her husband, Richard "Duke" of Sanford, grandchildren, Cori Boulet, Braden Boulet, Abigail Blouin, Katherine Blouin as well as many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Maine Children's Cancer Program, Sanford Elk's Lodge 1470, 13 Elm Street, Sanford, Maine 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
